🌸 Celebrating Culture, Community & Our Senior Citizens 🌸

SBCSG was honoured to have three representatives take part in the Malaysia Book of Records attempt for the Largest Gathering of Senior Citizens Wearing Cheongsam, organised by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) in collaboration with the Sarawak Federation of Chinese Women Association.

Our representatives proudly donned their cheongsam and joined fellow senior citizens in celebrating Chinese cultural heritage, friendship and community spirit. ❤️

It was a meaningful opportunity to come together, make new memories and show that life continues to be celebrated at every age. 🌷

🎨✨ An Afternoon of Art, Connection & Giving Back ✨🎨

What an exciting and meaningful afternoon for our SBCSG members! 💙

Our members had the wonderful opportunity to participate in “Paint, Play & Connect” with talented artist Angelina Bong — an afternoon filled with colour, creativity, laughter and meaningful connections. 🖌️🌈

Art has a beautiful way of bringing people together. Beyond creating something with our hands, this experience gave our members a chance to relax, express themselves, connect with one another and simply enjoy the moment. 💕

A heartfelt thank you to MWAA for organising this meaningful art event and to the generous sponsors for the 10 seats for our members to participate in the workshop. We would also like to thank Pullman Kuching for providing the venue for this event and supporting the initiative.

And a special thank you to Angelina Anthea Bong for creating such a joyful and inspiring art experience for our members. 🎨✨

We cried. We laughed. We shared. And together, we found strength. 💗

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Survivors’ Day yesterday.

It was a beautiful and meaningful session where survivors came together to share their stories, their journeys, their fears, their hopes and the lessons they have gathered along the way.

Some are still going through treatment. Some have completed their journey. But yesterday, we were reminded that no one has to walk this journey alone.

From the stories shared, three messages stood out:

🌸 1. Believe in yourself and stay positive.
Adeline, one of our survivors, was diagnosed with Stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer 10 years ago. Her child was still in primary school, and she worried about what would happen to her family. She chose to stay positive, believe in herself and keep fighting. Today, she is living life with hope and strength — together with her husband, who supported her tirelessly throughout her journey. 💕

🌸 2. Find your people, and be part of a community that understands.
Many of our survivors shared how grateful they are that they joined our society after their cancer diagnosis and found a group of people who understand what they are going through.

Here, they found more than just support, they found a family.

Survivors who have walked the same journey can share advice, offer words of encouragement, listen without judgement, and give a simple hug when words are not enough.

Sometimes, knowing that there are people who truly understand can make all the difference. 🤍

🌸 3. Be there for someone who is fighting cancer.
If someone you love is going through cancer, your support matters more than you may realise. Your presence, encouragement and love can give them strength when they need it most.

We are also deeply grateful to the caregivers and nurses who joined us, bringing not only their professional experience but also their compassion, understanding and heartfelt support to our survivors.
Your care continues beyond treatment , and your presence reminds our survivors that they are supported every step of the way.

Yesterday, we shared our stories, listened to one another, laughed, cried and reminded each other:

You are not alone.
We are stronger together.
We support. We share. We stand together. 💗

To every survivor, caregiver, nurse, family member and friend — thank you for being part of this journey. 🌷
