WHO ARE WE

Formally known as Kumpulan Sokongan Bagi Pesakit Kanser Payudara Sarawak, we are a registered NGO (No. 971) established in 2000 in Kuching.

Background

The Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group (SBCSG), formally known as 'Kumpulan Sokongan Bagi Pesakit Kanser Payudara Sarawak', is a non‑governmental organization registered under the Societies Act 1966 (Registration No. 971). Established in 2000, the organization provides emotional, social and educational support for breast cancer patients and survivors in Sarawak. SBCSG actively promotes breast cancer awareness, early detection, community education and survivorship support through outreach programmes and partnerships with healthcare professionals, government agencies and community organizations.

Objectives

  • Provide emotional, physical and spiritual support to breast cancer patients and survivors.
  • Promote breast cancer awareness and early detection through public education.
  • Organize talks, seminars and community outreach programmes.
  • Support patients through hospital visits, counselling and peer support.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, NGOs and government agencies.

VISION

A Sarawak where every woman has the knowledge and support to detect breast cancer early and live with dignity.

MISSION

To empower women and breast cancer survivors in Sarawak by:

  1. Providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and survivors addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  2. Promoting breast health education and awareness, particularly on breast self-examination and early detection.
  3. Advocating for timely diagnosis and equitable access to breast cancer care, especially for women in rural and underserved communities.
  4. Building a strong survivor and caregiver support network through counselling, peer support, and community engagement.
  5. Collaborating with healthcare providers, government agencies, and community partners to improve breast cancer outcomes in Sarawak.
  6. Mobilising resources and community action to sustain support services, outreach programmes, and patient assistance.
